The Zonal Event 2021, a vibrant celebration of creativity and teamwork, kicked off on October 22nd, engaging participants from various esteemed institutions across the region. Hosted by Z439 Amity University Kolkata, this year's event marked a significant milestone as it shifted to an entirely online format. This decision not only opened the doors to a wider audience but also ensured the spirit of competition and engagement thrived.

The theme, “Bohurupi : the one who dons various characters,” was at the heart of the event, reflecting the diverse nature of identity. Just like architects contributing to a grand design, each participant brought their unique ideas and talents, showcasing the rich variety of identities from the different institutions involved.

The Significance of the Theme

The term Bohurupi emphasizes the complexity of identity, suggesting that personality isn't a single trait but a blend of many. Each participant's identity, like different materials in a building, added depth to a collective narrative. The event logo creatively illustrated this concept: various elements represented states from Zone 4, coming together to emphasize teamwork and creativity.

This framework encouraged participants to explore both their skills and the various roles they embody in daily life. For instance, while competing in a serious workshop, a participant might also express the playful side of their identity during a lighter competition. The blend of activities added layers of meaning and enriched the overall experience.

A Variety of Activities

Running from October 22nd to 24th, the event featured a diverse range of activities designed to engage every participant.

From serious competitions like the D36 Trophy and Cahoots Trophy to lighter events such as stand-up comedy and esports, there was truly something for everyone. Specialized activities, like Photography and Comics, allowed participants to express their creativity, while workshops in Graphic Design and Tribal Art highlighted the importance of combining traditional skills with modern techniques.

The event also included seminars led by respected speakers on topics like “The Future of City Zoos,” where participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions. For example, one speaker shared that over 70% of urban areas are projected to be home to city zoos in the next decade, sparking conversations about the future role of zoos in education and conservation.

Spirit of Participation

Despite the challenges of an online format, the enthusiasm shown by all participants was remarkable. Individuals fully engaged in activities, revealing their talents and creativity while adapting to the digital experience.

The electric atmosphere lasted throughout the event, culminating in a lively valedictory ceremony on October 30th. The spirit of competition remained strong, demonstrating that even distance couldn't diminish the excitement and camaraderie formed during this week-long event. The dedication displayed by each unit was a true testament to their resilience.

The Results: A Celebration of Achievement

The event concluded with a celebration of participation and excellence, recognizing standout achievements. The overall results were as follows:

  • First Place: Z404 - National Institute of Technology, Raipur

  • Second Place: Z432 - OmDayal College of Engineering and Architecture

  • Third Place: Z401 - Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur

These results showcased the hard work and skills of all participants, highlighting the impressive efforts of each unit. The competitive nature of the event brought together institutions, enabling them to rally behind their representatives and share in their accomplishments.

Looking Ahead

Reflecting on the success of the Zonal Event, it is clear that the future holds great potential. As online platforms gain momentum, future events can reach even more participants.

The 2021 Zonal Event not only celebrated the diversity of talents but also set an important precedent for how educational and cultural gatherings can flourish in a digital world. The commitment to maintaining engagement, energy, and interaction online validates the importance of adapting to contemporary needs while cherishing tradition and competition.

A Multifaceted Experience

The Zonal Event 2021 served as a powerful reminder of the complex nature of identity and collaboration. Encapsulated by the theme Bohurupi, participants explored and showcased their many identities, demonstrating that creativity thrives, regardless of challenges.

In its essence, the event was not just about awards and competition. It fostered connections, learning, and growth. By embracing the online format, the Zonal Event concluded with strengthened relationships and the promise of future interactions. This experience paved the way for exciting opportunities to celebrate diverse talents, illustrating that, no matter the medium, a rich tapestry of identities is always waiting to be explored.
