In architecture education, the studio is more than a workspace—it is a space of growth, self-discovery, and transformation. The Student of the Year Trophy, part of the 67th Year of NASA India, celebrates this holistic journey by recognizing not just academic excellence but also creativity, empathy, and the broader vision that students cultivate during their formative years.
Unlike conventional competitions that focus solely on design projects, this trophy encourages participants to reflect on their entire educational journey—how studio learning, academic projects, and extra-curricular pursuits come together to shape them into well-rounded individuals. It is as much about storytelling as it is about architecture, offering students the chance to weave their work into a compelling narrative of growth, passion, and purpose.
The competition is open to students from second to fifth year, with submissions limited to academic and extra-curricular work produced between June 2023 and July 2024. The format involves two stages:
Stage 1 requires students to submit a soft copy portfolio in PDF format, including an introduction sheet and up to eight portfolio sheets in a 16:9 landscape format. This will be assessed through an online jury.
Stage 2 invites shortlisted participants to refine and standardize their submissions, which will then be presented to a panel of jurors.
Entries must remain anonymous, with no mention of the student’s name, college, or year of study. Each college may nominate up to eight entries—two from each year (second to fifth year). Importantly, internship work is excluded, keeping the focus entirely on the academic and creative efforts of the past year.
By celebrating both academic rigor and creative exploration, the Student of the Year Trophy embodies the idea that the journey matters as much as the destination. It provides a platform for students to showcase their identity, learning, and voice, honoring those who truly embody the spirit of architecture as a lifelong pursuit of knowledge, creativity, and self-expression.
