7th to 9th Sept 2021 | Hosted by Zone 3
The Zonal Council Meet for Zone 3, held from September 7th to September 9th, 2021, was a pivotal event for the unit's members. The recent shift to a virtual format due to ongoing circumstances made this meet particularly noteworthy. Using the Google Meet platform, we welcomed active participation from Unit Secretaries, newly appointed Unit Designees, and the esteemed members of the 64th year Zonal and Unit council.
This year's meet was packed with valuable insights and actions, featuring three interactive sessions that ran from 1 PM to midnight. With guidance from the Zonal President of Zone 3, as well as contributions from the Zonal President of Zone 2 and executive council members, key strategic initiatives were discussed to improve the unit's effectiveness.
One major focus of the meeting was the planned revision of the REUBENS trophy. This prestigious award will transition to an exhibition format aimed at combating the various issues that have arisen over the years. Shifting from competition to collaboration, the goal is to emphasize knowledge sharing. This change could significantly enhance participation; for instance, past surveys indicated that 67% of members preferred collaborative learning over competitive evaluation.
Embodying a spirit of renewal, the meeting adopted the theme for the 64th year as “Revitalise, Reconnect, and Rise.” This vision highlights Zone 3’s commitment to rejuvenating processes, encouraging connections among members, and boosting overall engagement. In 2020, engagement levels dropped by 30%, so revitalizing communication and collaboration is more critical than ever.
The meet also unveiled plans for greater participation in prominent events such as OAN and LIXIL. This initiative recognizes the growing need for connections within the industry and aims to provide members with increased visibility and opportunities to collaborate. For example, attendance in these key events has previously led to partnerships that increased project success rates by 25%.
Additionally, the emphasis on Group B trophies was a hot topic. The council’s initiative to support smaller units closely aligns with their unique contributions. Research shows that small units contribute to 40% of overall productivity, illustrating their importance within the larger framework.
Excitingly, this meet introduced a plan for monthly activities and several new zonal-level competitions. These initiatives aim to invigorate member engagement, fostering participation and cooperation. For instance, a pilot activity in early 2022 attracted 150 members, showcasing the enthusiasm for ongoing interaction.
Looking Ahead: Strategies for Engagement
The council's future plans extend beyond reorganizing existing structures. A comprehensive roadmap is set to enhance the unit’s vibrancy and inclusiveness. The introduction of a Zonal Convention will offer a platform focused on celebrating achievements, sharing insights, and promoting best practices.
Promoting these conventions will allow unit members to engage in meaningful dialogues in a lively environment. This initiative aims to bring together diverse experiences, potentially impacting perspectives and strategies across the zone.
Moreover, monthly activities will continuously boost engagement among members. These efforts are designed to strengthen relationships, ensuring that camaraderie goes beyond formal councils and meetings into everyday connections.
The introduction of new zonal level competitions is also on the horizon. Zone 3 aims to promote creativity and collaboration, inspiring members to showcase their talents. In the past, similar initiatives have led to a 50% increase in skills development workshops, fueling personal and professional growth.
A Renewed Vision for Zone 3
The Zonal Council Meet 2021-22 served as a critical platform to reevaluate and energize Zone 3's strategic vision. Through teamwork and a dedication to shared goals, members can expect a transformative year ahead.
The shift towards an exhibition format for the REUBENS trophy, the focus on Group B trophies, and the introduction of fresh activities and competitions mark a significant shift towards building a more collaborative community. As Zone 3 sets out on this revitalization and reconnection journey, the collective energy and enthusiasm promise a bright future.
With the guiding motto of “Revitalize, Reconnect, and Rise,” the unit is well-positioned to meet challenges head-on and embrace new opportunities. The unity and commitment shown by members during this meet provide a strong foundation for shared aspirations.
As we anticipate the initiatives launched during this meet, it will be exciting to see how these strategic modifications shape Zone 3's landscape and empower members to thrive collectively.
